birthday again.

I scrambled to write the excerpt I'm going to share down below one night in a fit of anxiety + general dread one night back in June. I get like this every June. I do this around New Year's, too.    I don't like the conception of time. I suppose it bothers me. It apparently worsens as I creep up the ladder of age. I do what I can to shift my thoughts onto anything lighter than the existential, but nonetheless: it remains.   I think I appreciate it about myself, if I'm honest. That is, if you take, "existential dread" + just shave off the "dread" portion. Annoyingly, being so chronically empirical about life can give one quite a bit of depth in perspective, I've found.   It makes moments more important. I document a lot of things because I have a fear of being forgotten, hence my love of photography & videography. I create so that I can try with everything in me to somehow let somebody know I was here on this planet, long after I'm gone. ...

My Bachelorette Weekend

I cannot believe it's taken me this long to finally write this one, but guys.. we did so much during this weekend that it's going to be a struggle on how I'm going to put all of this into a blog post. There will be lots of pictures and plenty of videos, though, so stay tuned.
Saturday, July 13th, my Maid of Honor, Brenna, and one of my bridesmaids, Becca, picked me up in their car. Even though I had a small idea on where we were driving, I didn't have a clue as to what we were doing that day, (which is perfect, because I absolutely love surprises). All I had with me was a bag packed with clothes that I was told to bring and a bathing suit on that I was told to wear. It was just going to be the three of us girls, minus my other bridesmaids who couldn't make it, plus Emmet, (my fourth "girl" for the weekend, who we were going to meet up with once we got to our destination).
As we got closer, I quickly recognized where we were going: Virginia Beach; but still had no idea as to what was planned that morning. Turns out, my girls had scheduled parasailing for us! We were among the very first to go out that day, and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I hadn't been parasailing since I was a little kid, so I was extremely excited. I've compiled the videos from that excursion into a small movie, below:

(Side note, before I move onto what we did next: Brenna and Becca were so awesome for planning our parasailing appointment. I had a blast and I know everyone else did, too. Also, another big 'thank you' goes to Pirate Parasailing in Virginia Beach-- those guys were amazing and made the trip all the more fun.)
After we were done parasailing, we parked our car close to the beach, and floated around in the water for a little while. We laid-out on the sand and tried to soak-up as much sun as we could until we got hungry. We took a few pictures, too:

The next part is my fault, (haha!). I didn't realize how far away Waterman's Grill was, but it was quite the walk from where we were parked on eighteenth street.. (oops). We definitely got our exercise in that morning as we walked all the way from eighteenth street down to fifth street. It was definitely worth it, though. Their food is always amazing and their Moscow Mule's, (which is what Becca got to drink), are to die for.
After we ate, we were all discussing what we wanted to do next. We all voted on scooters. There are these new scooters all over Virginia Beach, (you'll see them a lot in bigger, tourist-y towns), and they're electric. You download an app on your phone and it only costs roughly $10 an hour. Let me tell you guys, these things were a blast. I think we drove those things up and down the avenue three times. They get up to about fifteen miles an hour; they are so fun.

After all of that, we decided we wanted to go back to Emmet's apartment and nap before we had our game night. We did not nap. I wish that I had, because I ended up crashing an hour before the game night commenced. I woke up, of course. We played games and drank until almost five in the morning, and it was a blast. We took plenty of Polaroids to document that night:

Overall, this weekend was so. much. fun. I cannot even express to you in words how grateful I am for these people, and I'm so glad that they're in my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to them and for everything they've ever done to help me. You guys are great. Officially ready to get married.
