That Little Bungalow on The River

Where do I begin? The four walls that have held me & my family for the last almost five years will always be a part of me, and to find a way to concise it into a blog post would be like holding a candle to one of the brightest stars in the galaxy.     "Oh, it's XXXX square feet, planted on the river, number two, in a row of three other bungalows,” we always tell new friends.     Next door, there's "Faye-Faye", our child's adopted Grandmother. A small, gated yard that my dog, Popeye, frequently jumps to take a muddy dip in the river bed from time to time.     "Oh, I wish we had more space", I catch myself sighing to Joey on the regular. But I don't. I want to stay, right here, right where we are in our little river bungalow.     It's the smells of Sunday pancakes, the constant bumping into each other, and the coziness you feel when friends & family come to visit that keeps my heart here.     It's...

Start Spooky Season at these Etsy Shops - Small Business Highlights of the Month

Ladies & Gentlemen of the world... it's officially here: spooky season. Most of my friends & family will tell you that I start decorating for Fall & Halloween on September 1st, (as soon as the clock strikes midnight, practically), but we are just days away from Halloween 1st... erm, I mean, October 1st.

With that being said, one thing I love to do to when I'm stocking up on all things Fall & Halloween is to support small businesses in the process! There are so many great entrepreneurs out there looking to sell their ideas and art to the world, and I'd love to highlight my absolute favorite small businesses this month on the blog this week; these two businesses, specifically, just in time for spooky season:

    1. AutumnGhosty Masks on Etsy.com

I first stumbled upon Carrie's Instagram, (@AutumnGhosty), from a mutual follower's recommendation to Carrie's Halloween & other seasonal masks options earlier this year. When the COVID-19 Pandemic swept the nation back in March, I'd been sporting those basic, disposable masks, and was beginning to consider some cotton, re-washable alternatives. That's when I was blessed by the Universe and AutumnGhosty & her beautiful mask options entered my life.

All of her masks are handmade and impossibly cute. We're all trying to be safe & healthy amongst this worldwide pandemic, so why shouldn't we be able to do it in style... and while still celebrating the "most wonderful time of the year", (in my opinion *wink*).

The photos I've shown are just a very minor fraction of all of the different patterns, themes, and color options Carrie has given her shoppers to choose from. Do yourself a favor and support a small business today by snagging one, (or four... I won't judge), of her seasonal masks.

    2. LittleSpookyStudio on Etsy.com

Stumbling upon LittleSpookyStudio's Instagram was a spooky blessing I didn't know I needed until it happened. Regina's by-hand drawings & paintings will melt your heart this Halloween with her various not-so-scary scenes containing charming skeletons, smiling ghosts, endearing vampires, loveable werewolves, precious pumpkin people, & so many more not-so-hair-raising Halloween time characters pictured in their element.

She provides her art in the form of greeting cards, stickers, keychains, tote bags, framable prints, pins, buttons, & more!

Regina, (the artist), describes her creations as "mostly wholesome spooks"-- I, personally, cannot think of a better way of describing her adorable, spooky-time designs. I've already ordered stickers to place in my diary & I've framed one of her prints depicting a ghost family scene for our house's entry-way, just so that it's the first thing that our guests see when they enter in.

If you're looking to add a little touch of charming bewitchment to the blank corners of your living areas, look no further than Regina's endearingly spooky designs at LittleSpookyStudio on Etsy.com.

I hope you'll support these creative entrepreneurs this fall season as we all begin the annual process of finding ways to inspire ourselves & get in the Halloween spirit. I cannot wait to share my next list of favorites on next month's edition of my blog's Small Business Highlights!
