That Little Bungalow on The River

Where do I begin? The four walls that have held me & my family for the last almost five years will always be a part of me, and to find a way to concise it into a blog post would be like holding a candle to one of the brightest stars in the galaxy.     "Oh, it's XXXX square feet, planted on the river, number two, in a row of three other bungalows,” we always tell new friends.     Next door, there's "Faye-Faye", our child's adopted Grandmother. A small, gated yard that my dog, Popeye, frequently jumps to take a muddy dip in the river bed from time to time.     "Oh, I wish we had more space", I catch myself sighing to Joey on the regular. But I don't. I want to stay, right here, right where we are in our little river bungalow.     It's the smells of Sunday pancakes, the constant bumping into each other, and the coziness you feel when friends & family come to visit that keeps my heart here.     It's...

My Big, Fat American Summer Bucket List - 2019

Well folks, Summer's unofficially, officially here. That's right-- the season that every true American thrives off of cold beers, grilling-out on the porch, spending countless hours in the water, (whether that be the ocean, river, or the pool in your backyard), followed by laying out in the sun, and ending the day by either getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, watching fireworks, catching fireflies in jars with holes poked on top, or all of the above. Even if Summer isn't your all-time favorite season, there's still just something about it that everyone can appreciate in one capacity or another. With all of that being said, here's ways in-which I plan on making the best of my Summer:
  • One crazy backyard BBQ party; complete with hotdogs/hamburgers on the grill, a ton of ice cold beers, great music, good friends, and a questionable amount of fireworks, (because, you know.. 'Merica),
  • A weekend getaway to the beach,
  • Getting a good tan,
  • Finding the time to read the books I've been dying to read,
  • Make homemade Tzatziki Sauce-- (a personal fave of Joey's and mine),
  • Go on more walks/runs through the neighborhood,
  • Use the Cucumbers from my garden in a recipe,
  • Go to at least one concert,
  • Visit farmers' markets as often as possible,
  • Go to baseball games,
  • Take out my paddle board on the water more often,
  • Brunch-it-up,
  • Buy more indoor plants,
  • S'mores, s'mores, s'mores(!),
  • Paint some pottery at a class as a way to make a keepsake with Joey,
  • Um, hellooooo?? Did someone say "vineyard trip"??? YES.
  • Learn how to grill properly, (lol),
  • Try a restaurant that I've never even thought to visit before,
  • Go long boarding on the boardwalk,
  • Go to a strawberry farm and pick strawberries,
  • Visit the local fair in my hometown,
  • Use my hammock,
  • Bonfire night with friends,
  • Go on a starry-night date with Joey, and park somewhere to watch the night sky,
  • Get another tattoo,
  • Take Joey on some surfing lessons,
  • and learn how to make some new drinks.

Chances are, I probably won't be able to complete the whole list, but maybe, (juuuust maybe), I'll be able to do at least a third of the things I've mentioned here. I hope that you enjoyed my list and that it helped you decide on some ideas to help make your Summer memorable!
